Valley board is the timber used to under-support the metal 'valley iron' or under tile gutter where 2 sections of pitched roof meet.

Valley board is installed on site by the frame erectors once the roof structure is formed and before the roof tiles or sheeting are laid.

It is usual that a nominal 200mm width of valley board is used down each side of each valley. 1 or 2 boards wide can make up each side. Thickness of board ranges between 21 to 25mm. Either untreated of H2F (Blue) is used in line with the rest of the roof structure.

Programmed Timber also supply mixed ‘job’ packs (to the customer’s individual specification) of the different ancillary timbers required on site. Valley boards are usually supplied as part of that package.
